Presidential Candidate of the ADC Dr Obadiah Mailafia Attends an Inter-Party Forum on Religious Dialogue
On the afternoon of Monday
26 November the Atiku Campaign Organisation invited the African Democratic
Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Dr Obadiah Mailafia to an inter-party
forum discussion on Religious Dialogue as we prepare for the 2019 elections.
In his own contributions Dr Mailafia urged all political party candidates to
eschew bitterness and to avoid ethno-religious bigotry in the upcoming
elections. He emphasised that Muslims and Christians are brothers and that we
must work together to build a New Nigeria. He pointed out that the ADC will
embrace all Nigerians and will work to fight the common ills that we face:
poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and disease. He said that as a Christian, his
duty is to love all people and to fight for all oppressed Nigerians who suffer
injustice and marginalisation.
Let it be on record that Dr
Mailafia honoured an invitation to discuss the issue of religious co-existence
with particular reference to the issues affecting Christians. He honoured the
invitation out of respect for the CUPP coalition of which both the ADC and PDP
are members. Some mischievous characters on social media have been spreading the fake news that Dr. Mailafia's attendance at the forum amounted to an endorsement of Atiku and the PDP. Let it be on record that the ADC candidate did not, by this act of magnanimity, imply that he was by any
stretch of the imagination endorsing anyone whatsoever. As a matter of fact, in his speech, Dr Mailafia joked that, after
listening to him, he hoped that Atiku and his team will see the light and join
the ADC, which he describes as the fastest growing political party in Africa. Forward ever, backward never!
